Gordon Brown joins asset manager as adviser

Gordon Brown has joined global investment management firm Pimco as an adviser on economic and political issues.

The former Labour Prime Minister (pictured) joined the firm as part of a group of five experts also including former US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke, and Jean-Claude Trichet, former president of the European Central Bank, according to the BBC. A spokesman for Brown said he was taking on a minor advisory role and would not financially benefit. He told the BBC: "Any money goes to the office of Gordon and Sarah Brown to support their charitable and public service work." The advisory board will meet several times a year.
