Scrutiny of SJP's fees as investors demand 'simple answers'

Fees charged by St James's Place (SJP) are under the spotlight once again, as the restricted advice firm reluctantly gives some answers to investors who are struggling to find out how much they pay for its services.

Sunday Times readers put pressure on the advice, fund management and platform business, for a response after the firm initially refused to explain its charging structure. Investors expressed frustration at SJP's "anything but" transparent fees, with one telling the paper: "Whenever I have asked about its fees I don't get simple answers, as its fees are incorporated in its unit cost pricing structure, so nothing is transparent".
