Woodford IM appoints head of ops as two senior executives exit

Woodford Investment Management has brought in a new head of operations after the departure of two senior executives less than a year after the business launched.

Chief operating officer Nick Hamilton (pictured) and chief legal and compliance officer Gray Smith, exited the firm this week. Egerton Capital's James Newman has now joined the start-up as head of operations. He was previously head of fund operations at the group, having previously worked at Pictet Asset Management and Genesis Investment Management. Last month, Woodford IM announced two new appointments to its risk and compliance team - Simon Osborne joined as head of compliance, while Gavin St. John-Heath took the role of chief risk and operations officer.
