IFA that sold film tax scheme for £10k a year sued for £1m

An independent financial advice firm is facing £1m in claims from clients who say it misled them over fees on a film tax scheme.

Clients believed that a £10,000 annual fee for a film tax partnership went to the company that designed the scheme, according to the Mail on Sunday. In fact, £6,500 was taken by Omni Executive Group, which investors are now pursuing for compensation. The Financial Ombudsman Service has already ruled that one investor was misled and ordered Omni to refund the cash. Omni had introduced the clients to a film partnership scheme that put money into Confessions Of A Shopaholic, a 2009 US romantic comedy.
