The Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) has changed its certified financial planner (CFP) certification process by adding a written examination to the existing case study component.
The Principles of Financial Planning exam includes 30 multiple-choice questions and can be taken online or at an examination centre. The IFP's original requirement for CFP certification consisted of a case study element only. Candidates will need to pass the exam before beginning a case study. The changes came in from 1 January, but do not affect existing CFP professionals or those already in the assessment process.
