HMRC targets doctors and dentists in latest tax crackdown

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is targeting 2,500 doctors and dentists in its latest crackdown on tax evasion.

The Revenue will send practitioners letters warning them to pay up what they owe within 21 days or face prosecution, the BBC reports. The latest move is the second of a two-part operation targeting medical professionals. HMRC originally offered doctors and dentists discounted penalty rates to come forward and put their tax affairs in order, and is now following up with threats of legal action for those who ignored the offer.
