HMRC launches helpline for riot-stricken taxpayers

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has today launched a helpline for businesses and individuals affected by the recent riots to help them meet their tax demands.

People and businesses who are unable to meet tax payments due to short-term financial difficulties caused by the riots can call the helpline to rearrange payments. Those who have lost tax records due to arson attacks during the riots can also call the number to agree solutions with the Revenue. HMRC said when possibly it will review penalties imposed by those affected missing payment or paperwork deadlines. The number to call is 0845 366 1207. Since Saturday nights, civil unrest has spread throughout London, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Salford, Nottingham and Bristol....
