Govt launches inquiry into auto-enrolment

The Work and Pensions Committee (WPC) has launched an inquiry into auto-enrolment and the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST).

The inquiry will focus on the estimated opt-out rates from pension schemes under the reforms and the potential market share NEST could take. Also a focus of the inquiry is the cap of £4,200 per year on contributions savers can make to NEST, the committee said. The inquiry will bring the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) communication of the reforms with employers and staff under scrutiny as well as the impact on small businesses.
