Keydata's Elias 'alive and on the run in Asia'

The Serious Fraud Office suspects David Elias, a businessman deeply embroiled in the Keydata saga, may be on the run in South-East Asia, despite being declared dead two years ago, according to reports.

Investigators at the SFO harbour "serious doubts" that David Elias, who controlled one of two Luxembourg-based companies that provided investment products to Keydata, is actually deceased, a source at the agency told the Times. Elias, a former barrister and businessman left the UK for Singapore in the late 1990s, and reportedly died of pneumonia in Singapore in May 2009, though questions were raised about his death at the time.
