Govt launches two-week auto-enrolment consultation

The DWP has launched one last consultation on auto-enrolment before the pensions bill becomes law.

The informal consultation, which opened yesterday and closes on 31 May, asks for views on the draft regulations before the DWP finalises the policy. The DWP said it will carry out another, formal consultation on the auto-enrolment guidance after the pensions bill receives Royal Assent. Laith Khalaf, pensions analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said the consultation was an exercise to "dot the i's and cross the t's" of the auto-enrolment rules. "The recommendations coming out of the review have largely found their way into the Pensions Bill going through parliament now," said Khalaf. ...
