2010 20 April - Explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico killed 11 people and injured 17. 26 May - Over 130 lawsuits relating to the spill had been filed against one or more of BP, Transocean, Cameron International Corporation, and Halliburton Energy Services.
