UK ETF asset rise outstrips global growth

UK-listed ETFs and ETPs saw assets under management (AUM) increase 49% last year against a global growth of 28%, according to BlackRock.

The firm's ETF Landscape - United Kingdom Industry Review reveals that UK assets in the funds totalled $93.4bn at the end of 2010, while average daily trading volumes were up 24% to $550.4m. The UK figure compares to an AUM growth of 30% across the whole of Europe and 27% in the US over 2010. BlackRock's Global ETF Research and Implementation Strategy Team also notes that the performance in ETFs considerably outstrips the 5.2% increase in the FTSE 100 in US dollar terms over the same period.
