Van Eck Global has released an ETF providing exposure to Egypt on the NYSE Arca exchange in the US.
The Egypt Index ETF is designed to replicate the performance of the underlying Market Vectors Egypt index, which has 27 constituents. The benchmark comprises publicly traded companies domiciled and primarily listed on an Egyptian exchange, or companies that produce at least 50% of their revenues in the country. Van Eck says the fund is the first in the US to focus exclusively on Egypt, the third largest economy in Africa.
