The number of ETFs has increased by around 26% year to date in European markets, according to the exchange group NYSE Euronext.
At the end of September, the exchange group's European markets had registered 90 ETF listings and six de-listings in 2009. The exchange's monthly report shows daily average turnover increased by 29.3% to €340m in September, while the daily average number of trades increased by 7.9% compared to August this year. In terms of turnover by sector, equities accounted for the largest portion at 54%, followed by strategy and government bonds funds at 27% and 6% respectively.
