NYSE Euronext launches two dividend indices

NYSE Euronext has launched the CAC 40 Dividend index and the AEX Dividend index.

The indices measure the cumulative value of ordinary gross dividends, which are declared and paid by the constituents of the CAC 40 and the AEX indices. The value of the indices is expressed in terms of index points and the indices are reset at zero every year, on the third Friday in December. The exchange group says that the indices are designed as an underlying for futures contracts, in order to provide an extra way to effectively manage the risk inherent in the distribution of dividends by index constituents.
