Retail investors remain cautiously optimistic, despite the ongoing effects of the credit crunch, according to the first bi-annual Great British Investor report from The Investment Management Association (IMA).
The report, which considered the behaviour, confidence, intentions and concerns of Britain's retail investors as at May 2008, found the IMA GB Investor Confidence Index standing at 78 (on a scale of 0-200, with 100 being neutral), while the IMA GB Investor Intentions Index stood at 98. This was indicative of investors being broadly neutral overall and reluctant to make new investments, but fairly confident about keeping existing investments as they ride out the current financial storm.
