Henderson "unlikely" to hit £90m profit target

Henderson Group has warned it is unlikely to meet its £90m profit target for 2008.

In a statement, the firm said that in light of the prevailing market environment it is taking actions to protect its business and profitability and will provide a further market update on 6 November 2008. In August the group set its financial goal to "meet or beat" the £90m target based on a set of underpinning assumptions. The group argues that global market conditions have since deteriorated significantly meaning that a number of the assumptions that underpin its stated goal are no longer valid, resulting in pressure on assets under management and fee income.
