Credit crunch can prove multi-manager value - Potter

THE current challenging market conditions highlight the benefits of a good multi-manager, according to Gary Potter, co-head of multi-manager at Thames River Capital.

With markets changing rapidly and with buying opportunities sometimes only available for a matter of hours, having the ability and time to move quickly is paramount, according to Potter. He said: "If an opportunity arises it is easy for us to move quickly and ensure an appropriate proportion of our clients' money is moved. "However, for an IFA to do that and ensure all their clients benefit and are treated fairly and equally would be almost impossible."
