Baillie Gifford changes management of Pacific Horizon trust

Baillie Gifford has appointed Mike Gush as co-manager of its Pacific Horizon investment trust alongside Gerald Smith, who will step down next year and become a director at the company.

Smith has been the manager of the trust since 1995. The board intends to invite him to become a director with effect from 1 February 2009, and it is anticipated that Gush will take over all responsibilities for running the trust at this time. Baillie Gifford believes that the period of co-management, alongside its team-based approach to stock-picking, should ensure a smooth transition of portfolio management responsibilities.
