EC told 'be quick on UCITS'

THE UK investment industry has called for plans in the European Commission's white paper on simplifying UCITS legislation to be implemented as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary costs.

Last week’s publication of the EU White Paper on Enhancing the Single Market Framework for Investment Funds has been supported across the industry. According to the Investment Management Association(IMA) the move indicates “a very strong and welcome commitment by the EU Commission to take concrete steps to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of European investment funds”. The paper, which marks the end of two years of consultation on the way forward for Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS), has, according to the IMA responded very positively...
