Harries explains fund lag

THE £110.6m Cazenove Multi-Manager UK Growth portfolio has lagged its peers because of its lower exposure to the mid-cap sector, said fund manager Mark Harries.

Together with Simon Wood, Harries has been running the fund since May 2002. It is second quartile over three years and third quartile over one year, compared to its peers in the IMA UK All Companies sector, according to Lipper figures up until January 24 2007. Harries said the team was purely concerned with beating the fund’s benchmark, the FTSE All-Share on an annual basis, and he said during the calendar year the fund had outperformed the benchmark.
