Task force bids to rid IP of 'poor relation' tag

The question was a simple one: Why, if one of the main reasons for taking time off work is stress, does critical illness continue to outsell income protection three to one?

It was posed by a member of the income protection task force (IPTF) and was met with not a few raised eyebrows. The IPTF, which last week launched its second white paper on income protection (IP), seeks to determine why UK advisers are stuggling, or plain failing, to sell a policy it calls "the most important financial product you can have". Its 75-page white paper reveals plans to improve the product's reputation in the minds of advisers and consumers and outlines ways for IP to reach the wider community.
