What constitutes a structured product is about as ambiguous as what constitutes a hedge fund. Within each category, there is a vast array of different types of investments that grow every year. For the purposes of this article, a structured product will be considered any fixed duration contract that provides a non-conventional pay-off - meaning something that has a set maturity and provides a return that differs from the return available from investing in the major asset classes, such as equities, bonds and property.
