THE third quarter of 2007 has been marked by a slight slowdown in net retail sales, the IMA's investment fund statistics for funds of funds, tracker and ethical data shows.
At the end of the third quarter funds under management were up from £32.1bn to £33.1bn, and saw an increase of 21pc from the same quarter in 2006. Balanced funds accounted for the majority of funds under management, representing 68pc of assets, followed by 18pc in equities. Total net sales of funds of funds were £803.4m in the same period, down from £1bn in the second quarter and £894.1m seen in the third quarter of 2006. 57pc was invested externally, rather than in internal funds with the most popular sector cautious managed, which accounted for inflows of £379.2m.
