Investec to bring Global Energy fund in-house

INVESTEC Asset Management is to bring its Global Energy fund back in house from the Tim Guinness-led Guinness Asset Management, while bringing in two new highly rated hires from Goldman Sachs.

The group has this week appointed Mark Lacey and Jonathan Waghorn, both of whom will be joint portfolio managers of the fund and its offshore twin, which have combined assets under management in the region of $2.1bn. The pair were previously joint heads of energy research at Goldman Sachs; Lacy was rated number one oil and gas analyst in 2007 by Thompson Extel, while Waghorn has achieved a five star rating by StarMine.
