Conventional annuities 'no good' - IFAs

OVER half of the IFA community believe conventional annuities do not provide sufficient cover for retirement, according to a new survey.

In addition, the Prudential adviser index research has revealed that over 70 per cent of IFAs believe that conventional annuity rates will remain low or decrease further. As a result, advisers are now looking at alternatives for their clients and believe that sales of with-profits annuities will increase by up to 20 per cent over the next 12 months. The findings have highlighted that IFAs recognise the limitations that conventional annuities present to clients and the need to look at other options.
