BAMBOS Hambi, head of multi-manager at Gartmore has stepped down from his position and Tony Lanning, currently deputy head of multi-manager, will now lead the team.
The decision came after a review of Gartmore's multi-manager funds, in which it was proposed the firm's three multi-manager funds - Active, UK High Alpha and Global High Alpha - would merge. Meera Patel, senior analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, was puzzled by the move: "Hambi is well respected in the industry and is a very bright individual. "One can only speculate, but it may be that when conducting its review, Gartmore decided that keeping him on the team was not cost effective," she said.
