Managers unanimous: it's time to start re-investing in bonds

Fund managers have unanimously agreed that now is the time to start investing in bonds again.

Ian Spreadbury, manager of the Fidelity MoneyBuilder Income fund and Fidelity Sterling Bond fund, said he believed that the current economic slowdown was a perfect environment in which bonds would prosper, provided that investors tread carefully. "The main reason I am positive about corporate bonds is that we are likely heading towards an economic slowdown and this is exactly the environment in which fixed income investors can prosper," he said. Spreadbury added that credit spreads were as wide as he could remember and that yields at 8pc were very attractive when compared to nominal GDP ...
