Barings appoints new MM head

JAMES Calder will join Baring Asset Management in January as its new head of multi-manager.

In his new role, Calder will work alongside Malcolm Herring as co-manager of Barings range of Dublin-listed Risk portfolios - Extended, Optimum and Reduced. He will report to Percival Stanion, head of multi-asset. Calder will join Barings from Berry Asset Management, where he was head of fund research, responsible for fund selection. He had previously made his name in a four year stint as senior fund research analyst at BestInvest, which he left in 2005. He has also held roles at Standard & Poor's, Grieg Middleton and Gartmore.
