FTSE awaits US interest rates decision

In the UK the FTSE 100 Index has closed a touch higher at its close, adding 3.80 points to 4,937.30 points, pegged back however, as it awaits tomorrow's interest rates outcome in the US.

Water companies Severn Trent and United Utilities added 19.50p to 924.50p and 8p to 437.75p respectively. Moving down, mobile phone firm 02 shed 6p to 117p after it forecasted that its revenue growth would slow in its next financial year. Asset management firm, Schroders also slipped 20p to 743p at the market close a short while ago. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has started well, adding about 26 points to 10,591.77 points in its morning session. Altria paces the New York benchmark, up $1.20 to $64.48, while Intl Paper has dropped $0.36 to $38.13. IFAonline
