Vodafone has seen its biggest share losses in over three months today after Citigroup downgraded their interest in mobile operators.
The FTSE 100 index eventually closed down 12.9 points or 0.3% to 4545.6 thanks largely to Vodafone – the largest stock on the index by volume – which on its own knocked 11 points off the index. The FTSE All-Share index also fell 0.3% to 2260.6 while the FTSE 250 index dropped 21 points or 0.3% to 6251.4. Vodafone closed down 4p or 3% to 129.25p while its rival MMO2 fared better and managed to close flat – having followed a similar path to Vodafone – and Colt Telecom dropped 3.25p or 6.6% to 46p.
