Falling copper takes shine off FTSE

The FTSE 100 has ended the session down 50.7 points, or 0.78%, to 6,418.7, as miners continued to struggle after copper and gold prices fell heavily overnight.

Vedanta Resources slipped 2.41% to £13.74, closely followed by Kazakhmys which dropped 1.98% to £11.39, while Reckitt Benckiser fell 2.02% to £27.19, and Amvescap declined 2.16% to 587.5p. However, Legal & General was the biggest loser with a drop of 2.42% to 153.3p, although losses were limited by Kingfisher which advanced 1.03% to end the session at 270.25p. Brewer Scottish & Newcastle climbed 6.75% to 625p, closely followed by Detica Group which is up 2.17% to 377.5p, while ITV has added 2.16% to 118.4p, and 3I Group climbed 1.23% to £11.48.
