Cadbury hits FTSE sweet spot

A sweet start on the FTSE has seen the index rise 28.8 points, or 0.44%, to 6576.7.

Cadbury Schweppes has climbed 13.5p, or 2.31%, to 598.5p, Kazakhmys is up 29p, or 1.9%, to £15.55, and Yell Group rose eight points, or 1.78%, to 457.5p. However, early gains are being stemmed by losses for Liberty International, down 46 points, or 3.88%, to £11.39. British Land, down 34p, or 2.92%, to £11.30, and Alliance & Leicester, down 24 points, or 2.82%, to 828p, make up the remaining early Friday losses. In the US, the Dow Jones closed barely up, having climbed 6.26 points, or 0.04%, to 13974.31. Merck & Co, up 0.71 points, or 1.36%, to 52.86, Pfizer, up 0.22 points to 25.3,...
