Angioplasty, the technique of inflating balloons inside arteries to the heart to counter heart disease, will no longer be covered in future CIC policies issued by Norwich Union, the insurer says.
The change is one of a number announced by the company in line with similar changesproposed by competitors and the industry as a whole in the past year. Other changes include an average rise in premiums of 3%, setting a maximum term of 25 years, and a maximum expiry age of 65 years. Applications received up to 25 January will be processed according to previous rates, terms and conditions. NU says the exclusion of angioplasty comes as medical advances mean it is a "relatively straightforward procedure." IFAonline
