Landsbanki action group steps up deposit pressure

Landsbanki Guernsey savers are meeting for the second time with the island's chief minister to campaign for 100% of their deposits to be returned.

Approximately 70% of individual deposits are still at stake after the bank went into administration in October last year. In a bid to resolve the situation, the Landsbanki Guernsey Depositors Action Group (LGDAG) is to meet with chief minister Lyndon Trott to get his response to December's Justice Committee hearing in London. At the hearing, Rt Hon Sir Alan Beith, said some questions 'remained unanswered' regarding the extent to which the Ministry of Justice is fulfilling the UK Government's constitutional obligations in representing Guernsey's affairs to the Icelandic government.
