Tate & Lyle closed on one of the biggest gains today, rising 13.5 points, or 2.41%, to 573.00p. J Sainsbury followed, closing at 584.00, an increase of 11.5 points, or 2.01%. Enterprise. Inns rose 12 points, or 1.78%, closing at 686.00p. Shire Pharmaceuticals reached 1206.00p after climbing 18 points, or 1.52%. British American Tobacco jumped 21 points, or 1.29%, to 1651.00p. Antofagasta failed to recover from its poor start, falling 10.5 points, or 1.7%, to 608.00p. Vedanta Resources plummeted 27 points, or 1.68%, to 1579.00p.
