NU under more pressure over endowments - papers 17th August

NORWICH UNION is under pressure to disclose how much it has set aside to cover mortgage endowment shortfalls, says the Daily Telegraph.

Having yesterday announced it would give policyholders one year’s notice of their time bar on complaints about potential mis-selling, NU is now being pressured to reveal how much more than £130m it has set aside to cover compensation claims. Money was put aside in 2000, but NU previously said it would never impose a time bar. COUNCIL WORKERS will have to work until 65 to qualify for full pension rights from April 2005, continues the Telegraph. From next year, the workers' minimum retirement age will rise from 50 to 55 and the "85-year rule" will be abolished which in the past allow...
