FTSE slumps as property falls

The FTSE 100 has ended the day down 25.9 points, or 0.4%, to 6,194, as property stocks littered the fallers.

Land Securities Group was the biggest faller with a drop of 3.2% to £22.10, closely followed by British Land which dropped 2.91% to £16.04, while Hammerson slipped 2.48% to £14.97 and Pearson fell 2.37% to 762p. Energy and mining stocks did their best to lead a rally with Cairn up 3.29% to £17.25, closely followed by Lonmin which gained 3.21% to £28.90, while Xstrata added 2.25% to £23.14, Anglo American climbed 1.63% to £23.68, and Old Mutual added 2.2% to 174.5p.
