ABI publishes teleunderwriting guidelines

The Association of British Insurers has published draft guidelines on teleunderwriting, which it hopes will improve the clarity of online and telephone protection applications.

The consultation paper follows the publication of guidelines to improve the clarity of written application forms earlier this year. It stresses insurers should make the consequences of non-disclosure “as explicit as possible” by giving regular, clear and unambiguous warnings about the consequences of non-disclosure and of applicants’ continuing duty to disclose.
