Cancer tops Bupa CI claims

The majority of critical illness claims are related to cancer, according to Bupa Individual Protection.

The company’s claim statistics reveal over half (55%) of critical illness (CI) claims are related to cancer and more women than men receive payouts for cancer on their policies. Just under half (48%) of all male claims for CI are related to cancer, compared to nearly seven out of 10 (65%) of female claims. After cancer the next overall illness claimed for is heart attack (13%), followed by stroke (7%), brain tumour (5%) and total and permanent disability (5%).
