UK stocks closed down this afternoon with shares in BA losing out as crude oil traded near a record high, increasing concern about rising energy costs.
The FTSE 100 Index closed about 5.4 points down to about 4629.40, as BA lost 6p to end the day at 203p. Cadbury Schweppes leads the day’s climbers adding around 10.75p to 446p, while SAB Miller has risen 12.5p to 761.50. BP leads an advance by oil producers, 8p up to 546p. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average opened a little earlier today, already losing about 74.11 points to 9,928.22 points. J.P Morgan Chase & Co leads the drop slipping $0.91 to about $38.33.
