Falling oil prices boost FTSE

The FTSE 100 Index added 9.3 points, or 0.2%, to 5773.40 points this morning as oil prices decrease for a second day.

Crude oil for March delivery has fallen as much as 0.8% to $61.41 a barrel in after-hours electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange amid signs production will rise faster than demand this year, bolstering stockpiles. British Airways has advanced 1.8% to 327p, while ICI has increased 0.9% to 347.5p. BAA has added 1% to 787p after shareholders including Scottish Widows said they would accept a takeover offer from Spain's Grupo Ferrovial SA if it were more than 900p a share.
