L&G underwriters to get medical training

Underwriters at life insurance provider Legal & General (L&G) are to receive medical training through a new academy in a bid to speed through applications for life insurance and critical illness cover.

The underwriting school, which has been set up in conjunction with Cardiff University, will see each underwriter trained in a specific field, such as cardiology or neurology. L&G says the academy, set to launch on October, will help it build “a team of experts” and improve the efficiency of customer applications.
