Fears of an impending recession mean around 1.5 million pensions savers have considered halting their contributions.
AXA, who commissioned the research, believe a two-year break from pension savings could cost the average person almost £30,000 when they reach retirement. A survey of pension savers found many were considering suspending their pension contributions to help them through the economic downturn. AXA claims around 1.5 million people have thought of stopping their payments, and says as much as £35bn in pension savings could be lost over a two-year period.
