FTSE in limbo above 4,800 level

In the UK, the FTSE 100 Index is trading about a point up from yesterday at 4,802.

Steelmaker Corus leads with a 0.75p gain to 52.75p. Financial information provider Reuters is up 5.50p to 393.75p. Gas company BOC has shed 9.50p to 976.50p, while British Land is down 8.50p to 890p. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 Stock Average index shed 0.4% to 11,238.37 at its close in Tokyo early this morning, led by electronic equipment producers. Sony, the maker of the PlayStation 2 video-game console and Wega flat-screen television sets, slumped 3% to 3,830 yen, after the company cut its operating profit and sales forecasts because of reduced prices for digital audio players and te...
