The FTSE 100 index closed up 53.40 points at 4,461.50 today after Reuters jumped by £1bn in value on its full-year results.
Shares in the financial services data provider surged 63.75p to 426.25p as investors warmed to the cyclical recovery story and improved profits on the back of cost cutting in the past couple of years. Royal & Sun Alliance added 6.75p to 103.75p on rumours it will announce a dividend when results are released next month. ICI picked up 13.75p to 241.5p after management told investors the company was seeing improvements in orderflow and saw a good year ahead.
