FTSE gains on Nikkei rise

The FTSE 100 has risen in early trading by 36.7 points, or 0.63%, to 5,894.8 as oil prices fell and the Asian markets gained.

Insurer Prudential is among the gainers with a rise of 1.13% to 584p after analysts upgraded the shares, while British Airways has also jumped 1.45% to 419.25p, as crude oil prices fell. Mining firm Anglo American is currently leading the rally with a rise of 2.05% to £22.89, closely followed by Yell Group which is up 2.01% to 583.5p continuing its gains from yesterday. Rival mining company Kazakhmys is also doing well with gains of 1.78% to £13.18, while ICAP has added 1.89% to 458.5p and bank Standard Chartered is up 1.77% to £13.24.
