FTSE gets the Party started

The FTSE 100 index has risen 31.1 points, or 0.5%, to 5,751 points today, led by PartyGaming.

PartyGaming has risen 4.13% to 100.75p as fears over the state of online gaming in the US fade. Vodafone has gained 2.25% to 113.75p after the mobile giant added a net 4.5m new customers in the first quarter of its financial year. Plumbing giant Wolseley has advanced 1.67% to £10.97 after agreeing to buy Scandinavian building materials supplier DT Group from CVC Capital for about £1bn plus debt of about £330m. Meanwhile, BG Group has fallen 2.18% to 695p after the price of a barrel of crude slipped through $74. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 Stock Average dropped 26.76 points, or 0.2%...
