FTSE falls on a gamble

The FTSE 100 Index lost 19.40 points, or 0.3%, to 5,682 points today, led by online gambling shares.

Turmoil in the online gambling sector dominated the market after shares in online gaming group BetOnSports were suspended after an extradition order was made for its founder amid counts of racketeering and fraud charges. The news sent online gambling shares plummeting. PartyGaming fell 17.23% to 85.25p and 888 Holdings dropped 13.73% to 166.50p. Sage fell 3.08% to 204.75p on a warning from its French rival Atos Origin after the company said it would miss both sales and margin expectations.
