Metal adds shine to the FTSE

The FTSE 100 Index gained 113.30 points, or 2%, to 5,791 points today after miners soared on rising metal prices.

Kazakhmys rose 5.76% to 1,138p, Anglo American gained 4.39% to 2,165p and Corus increased 3.42% to 385.75p. Persimmon gained 5.01% to 1,258p after Citigroup raised the shares to "buy" from "hold" with a 1,450p target price in response to a strong start to the year for the UK housing market. Internet gambling group PartyGaming advanced 3.43% to 128p after ABN Amro said "buy", while worries about US regulatory moves eased. On the downside, mobile phone repairer CRC fell 37.17% to 35.50p after it warned of a loss in both the first and second halves of this year. In the US, the Dow Jone...
